Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion Before & After Pictures

How Much Does Microdermabrasion Cost?

Since there are different types of microdermabrasion treatments, their cost varies. During your SpaMedica consultation, you can discuss different microdermabrasion treatments, your budget, and your aesthetic goals.

What Is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive treatment that utilizes an abrasive instrument to gently sand and exfoliate the skin, removing the thick, uneven outer layer. Microdermabrasion can treat scarring, discoloration, fine lines, sun damage, and stretch marks.

Types of Microdermabrasion Offered by SpaMedica

SilkPeel

Quick and painless, a SilkPeel treatment is designed to illuminate and rejuvenate the skin’s complexion. By utilizing a gentle device that exfoliates the skin, a SilkPeel treatment promotes the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, minor scars, acne, and sun damage while instilling a youthful glow.

The results from your SilkPeel procedure will be visible immediately after the treatment, making the skin instantly appear hydrated and smoother. SilkPeel moisturizes dry and flaky skin, providing a brightening boost to discoloured and imbalanced layers.

Crystal Peel

Small aluminum crystals are blown on the skin during a Crystal Peel microdermabrasion treatment, removing the outermost layers of the skin. This works to remove oil, shed dead skin cells, unclog pores, and improve the appearance of acne and scarring. You will also notice improved tone, texture, and higher collagen production.

SonoPeel

SonoPeel is the latest microdermabrasion technology. SonoPeel microdermabrasion is fast (your full face can be rejuvenated in as little as 15 minutes), effective in keratinocyte reduction, hydrating, gentle, and versatile for all skin types.

How Long Does It Take to Recover from Microdermabrasion?

There is no recovery time required following your microdermabrasion treatment. You can return to your regular activities immediately, and any swelling or redness will go away within 24 hours.

How Long Does Microdermabrasion Take?

The length of your treatment time is dependent on the technique you choose and the size of the area that is being treated. On average, microdermabrasion takes around 30 minutes.

Who Is a Candidate for Microdermabrasion?

Whether you are a good candidate or not will be decided during your consultation, but to determine your eligibility beforehand, you should:

  • Be in a healthy state of mind with realistic goals and expectations.
  • Be looking to eliminate age spots, discolouration, sun damage, acne scars, fine lines, texture issues, and clogged pores.
  • Wait two weeks after any other skin treatments you’ve received before going in for your microdermabrasion treatment.
  • Stop tanning and waxing the treatment site two weeks before your treatment.

If you are pregnant, have severe acne, deep scars, lesions, facial warts, herpes, unmanaged diabetes, an autoimmune disorder, or severe skin conditions, you may benefit from a different skin treatment that can address these concerns, such as laser therapy or a chemical peel.

Benefits of Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion can improve the overall tone and texture of the skin, and help reduce or eliminate other skin concerns such as fine lines, clogged pores, or scarring. Since these concerns can result in lowered self-esteem, improving your skin’s tone and texture can help improve your quality of life by improving self-confidence and self-image.

Risks of Microdermabrasion

While microdermabrasion treatments are usually very safe, there are some risks. These include:

  • Swelling.
  • Redness.
  • Bruising.
  • Dry or flaking skin.

These side effects only last one to two days and are not cause for concern.

How Does SpaMedica Perform Microdermabrasion?

Before your procedure, you can consult with the clinical team at SpaMedica to determine what type of microdermabrasion treatment is best for you. Microdermabrasion treatments like SilkPeel and Sonopeel are minimally invasive procedures that renew your skin’s tone and texture while also helping to improve the appearance of sun damage, clogged pores, fine lines, scarring, and other conditions.

The treatment uses a special application that sands away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it, get rid of skin concerns, and promote collagen production. Different microdermabrasion techniques like Crystal Peel sprays fine aluminum particles combined with suction to create the same abrasive effect on the outer layer of the skin.

Microdermabrasion is an outpatient procedure, meaning you will be able to go home directly following your treatment.

Best Procedures Paired with a Microdermabrasion Treatment

For more dramatic results, you may wish to pair other non-surgical procedures with your microdermabrasion treatment. A chemical peel or microneedling pairs well with microdermabrasion.

Speak with the clinicians at SpaMedica to determine whether any of our other non-surgical techniques can help you better achieve your optimal desired results.

How to Prepare for a Microdermabrasion Treatment

Prior to your microdermabrasion treatment, avoid harsh exfoliants and tanning or hair removal techniques in the treatment area for about two weeks. Sun exposure should also be avoided for a week before and after your treatment, and you should not wear any makeup to your appointment. Wait two weeks after any other skin treatments you’ve received before going in for your microdermabrasion treatment.
