What Are Restylane Dermal Fillers?

Restylane (hyaluronic acid fillers) injections are used for cheek augmentations, midface contour deficiencies, and lip augmentations. Restylane is a soft tissue dermal filler used at our SpaMedica clinic.

Combination is The Key

During your consultation, your consult coordinator will review the best combination of dermal fillers, whether in the Restylane family or not, to provide the results you are looking for.

Using only one dermal filler may not give the best results. Soft tissue filler results are often only achieved by the customized combination of two or more dermal filler products that work in different yet synergistic and summative ways. Fillers we offer include:

Revanesse

Restylane

Teosyal

Sculptra

● Bellafill (Artecoll)

Radiesse

Who is a Restylane Candidate?

Individuals who are unhappy with the appearance of deflated facial features may be good candidates for Restylane. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, on blood thinning medication, or have inflammation in the proposed treatment area should avoid treatment. Restylane Risks

Uncommon side effects of Restylane injections include:

  • Pain at the injection site
  • Redness

In rare cases, you may experience muscle soreness and weakness, which should resolve within a few days. If your side effects persist for more than a few days, notify your doctor or specialist to ensure the recovery process continues smoothly.

How to Prepare for Restylane Dermal Filler Injections

If you’re planning a visit to our Toronto clinic, please refrain from taking Aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for at least a week prior to your appointment. Inform your doctor or specialist about any antibiotics or other medications you’re on. We recommend rescheduling if you experience a cold sore, rash, or skin irregularities before treatment.

What to Expect After Restylane Dermal Filler Injections?

Depending on the amount of Restylane fillers used, some individuals may experience more swelling than expected. Gently icing the injection area immediately after the injection will help minimize any swelling or bruising you may experience. Arnica Montana, taken as directed before the injection, may also help minimize bruising.

Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat following your treatment to speed up the healing process and minimize the risk of inflammation. Our SpaMedica staff in Toronto will be happy to provide you with additional support in aftercare to ensure a speedy recovery.

Restylane Recovery & Timeline

1 Day After: Depending on how many injections you may require, some need to miss a day of work post-injection.

1 Week After: Some redness, inflammation, or bruising may take a week to subside. Limit sun exposure to prevent added swelling or bruising.

2 Weeks After: You should be fully healed by now and can return to regular activities.

Best Procedures Paired with Restylane

Blepharoplasty, Threadlift, Botox injection, fractional laser or fractional radiofrequency resurfacing are good options to pair with Restylane.

Restylane FAQ

How Painful Is It to Get Restylane?

Your doctor can use a multifaceted method to reduce the discomfort you experience during Restylane injections. This allows you to endure the treatment well and appreciate the rejuvenating effects of this popular filler type. At SpaMedica, we use laughing gas during soft tissue and dermal fillers, as well as laser treatments, ensuring the comfort of our clients.

Can I Do an IPL Laser or Fractional Treatment at the Same Time as Restylane?

If the dermal filler or soft tissue filler has been placed deeply, just above the bone, then a laser or RF device can be used over the top without damaging the dermal fillers or decreasing their life span or longevity.

However, if the dermal filler is placed or injected very superficially, within the actual skin or just under it, then treating with a laser, radiofrequency device, or another energy-based device over top of that skin may cause the dermal filler to break down and should be avoided.

What Areas of the Face Are Best for Restylane?

Your SpaMedica doctor and/or injection nurse may select different fillers for different areas of your face.

Is there hyaluronic acid in Restylane?

Yes, Restylane is primarily made with hyaluronic acid.

Who makes Restylane?

U.S. manufacturer Galderma produces Restylane and is FDA-approved.
